I am sorry. I think this is nonsense. Mysticising consciousness in this way is not helpful. Consciousness is a product of the brain and mind. Nothing else. Light is made of photons, consciousness is made of electrochemical information signals in the nervous system.

Consciusnesss is like the sun, it shines on all things and exist regardless if its noticed or not, the mind however is the connecter that recognizes the conscious, the vibration of ones being decides if the messages recieved is of higher causation or lower, attention is what makes us choose to entertain.

Don’t meditators often report an experience of pure awareness where they know consciousness without knowing any aspect of the body or mind? This seems to violate his last principle that consciousness cannot be known without the body or mind. Also, if consciousness can only be known through the body and mind, how can the speaker be sure that consciousness exists apart from the body and mind? How would he verify that? Is he inferring or deducing it from some other information?

I’m kinda disappointed with this. I’ve been aware of the yogic culture and many teachings for decades but I’ve never heard this explanation of consciousness existing outside of the body put in such a fascinating metaphor. That it is not part of the body or a product of the body, but rather it “pervades and illuminates” the mind and body. The analogy of how light illuminates the physical world of objects yet exists outside of the objects really made me think. This sounds like something that makes sense and I want to believe this. However, the more I thought about it I realized that this is not an explanation. It is a claim being made with no objective way to prove the truth of it. It took me a week or two, but finally, it was his statement that “without the mind and body consciousness is still there but it cannot be known.” If it cannot be known then how can you claim to know this? What's the point, how can you assert with such authority that this is the truth? This is a bullshit claim. It’s like saying, “I have an invisible elephant in my backyard. It’s there but it can’t be detected by any means. Trust me. I'm telling you the truth.” Proof of the existence of light does not need physical objects. Science has means of detecting photons and many methods to prove its’ existence. This is just another "woo" claim being asserted by a religious tradition that had no basis in reality. It is very clever, though.

Just because you don’t know that is a rope , it doesn’t change the reality , your understanding or knowledge is limited ….if a 2 year old kid sees a man and says it’s a devil …what is it ?

The framework of (the reality or the dream) is organized by our intention and thoughts. I hope that explains. The outer world is 100 percent identical of our inner world. You have to see it with our soul eye, not our spiritual eye. Spirit dies, the soul does not. we are of our soul not the spirit we manifest. Consciousness is a product made from our soul according to our thoughts and intent. However the word consciousness is begin with CON. Con means not real or made to believe. So therefore consciousness is not real.

There's no generally agreed definition of consciousness but the closest I've yet heard came from, of all people, Richard Dawkins (paraphrasing as I can't find the original quote): "The subjective mental experience of any organism which has sufficient neural complexity that its model of the world includes itself."

If you need 200 seconds to explain consciousness, you have no clue what you are talking about.

Ill do you one better - Consciousness is the outcome of Life/energy (source) evolving over a long time becoming self aware. The life force that permeates all reality is Void but exists, in its infintile state it is not aware, but it is energy and can form it's own self naturally into a being. Lifeforce > energy > matter Think of consciousness like the bloom of a flower. The flower itself is just crude matter state, devised of energy, and the expression of the flower petal blooming (life) is consciousness. After a long time the recurring of life within reality or permeating reality becomes aware its doing so. But in order to achieve this the mind must exist. Just like the stem of a flower.. one cannot be without other until consciousness finds a way to be wothout limitation.

Through body & mind everybody is understanding consciousness. If beyond them it cannot be known, then what is Self-Experience or Aatma-jnaana? Without experiencing it how can you get Moksha or liberation? What is the differenve between a Jeevanmukta and others who are in bondage? Do you deny "Experiencing Pure Self" which is one with Brahman as per Shankara? In that case you deny the whole concept of Brahma-Jnaana, the means taught by sages to experience it, and say that everybody who "understands" consciousness is jnaani & liberated?

Doesn't sound scientific.. Watched seeing iit etc.. Consciousness is there in animals too, we have more thinking power. Means it's a product of brain in each organism
